Who Do I See

Health problem or question? Please click here for our Who do I See? page.

The NHS in Scotland is investing considerably in many different and highly skilled health professionals to advise and treat you, often quicker and easier than your GP can. This gives faster access to the GP for those that have more complex problems.

For example your local pharmacist under the Pharmacy First scheme can treat urine infections in women, skin infections and eczema, fungal infections including thrush, coughs and colds, stomach complaints, shingles, cold sores as well as most minor ailments, lice, worms warts and all, free of charge and without an appointment. Similarly Opticians are now your first point of contact for most eye problems.

There is direct access with self referral for many pregnancy related concerns, physiotherapy treatment, mental health support including counselling, family planning and STIs and our Treatment Room Service (CTAC) provides help with minor injuries and dressings, stitch removal, injections and ear wax. The Health Board has provided a full blown Minor Injuries Service provides treatment for cuts and burns, sprains and fractures, insect and animal bites and minor head injuries and is open 9 ’til 9 seven days a week.

David is our practice first contact Advanced Physiotherapist (APP) he offers expert advice for people over 14 with MSK problems like back pain, neck pain, arthritis, sports injuries, sprains and strains, joint and muscle pain. He can examine thoroughly, advise on self help and exercises, arrange for investigations like x-rays and blood tests, complete fit notes and refer for physio treatment, podiatry or orthopaedic specialists collaborate with the GPs for pain relief medication.

In addition our additional information pages accesed from top right of the page gives a lot more information on Physical and Mental Health, Money and housing concerns, Chronic pain, Pregnancy Care and Bereavement.

We hope this information will be helpful for you find what you need and this helps the GPs offer many more appointments for those of you who need more complex care. Thank You.
